The 2 Sheffield United players set to become free agents next year

Sheffield United saw quite a few players leave last summer, including Oliver Norwood

Norwood was only one of a few rather long-serving players to leave Bramall Lane, with Chris Basham, Wes Foderingham, Max Lowe, and the late George Baldock also departing after their contracts expired in South Yorkshire, as was Derby County summer acquisition Ben Osborn.

Oli McBurnie, John Egan, and Jordan Amissah also left the Blades for nothing, while Daniel Jebbison chose to join Championship rivals Watford.

Cameron Archer, Jayden Bogle, Will Osula, Bénie Traoré, and Auston Trusty have all left for undisclosed sums.

Many players have left Bramall Lane in recent months, necessitating the inclusion of several new players, with some first-teamers also heading out on loan.

United have also utilized the loan market to their advantage, and several of their current loanees may assist them return to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

Given how many players left the club over the summer, it’s no surprise that there aren’t many United players out of contract in 2025.

Aside from loanees Alfie Gilchrist, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, and Harry Souttar, we look at the two other players who are expected to leave the club next year as things stand.

Jack Robinson

Jack Robinson has lost a significant portion of the season due to injury, which is unfortunate because he was only recently adjusting to his role as captain on the field.

Despite just returning to the bench, he may struggle to reclaim a spot in the starting lineup, as Anel Ahmedhodzic and Harry Souttar create a strong connection.

Robinson has a high possibility of gaining significant game time because one of Ahmedhodzic or Souttar may become unavailable at some point.

However, he could spend the foreseeable future on the bench, and if he doesn’t start most games between now and the end of the season, it will be intriguing to watch if he is offered a new contract.

The league in which the Blades play next season may also be determined by whether he receives a new contract, but he may still be seen as a valuable squad member.

Rhian Brewster

Striker Rhian Brewster hasn’t had the finest time at Bramall Lane.

Rhian Brewster for Sheffield United-2

He signed from Liverpool in 2020 for a reputed £23.5 million, however he has failed to deliver value for money and has spent much of his time in South Yorkshire on the sidelines due to injury.

It’s a real shame he hasn’t been a success for the Blades because he had a lot of potential and might have been sold for a good price in the future.

He was a Chris Wilder signing, and depending on how he performs this season, it wouldn’t be surprising if the former England youth international earns another deal.

However, his scoring rate must improve in order for him to demonstrate that he can be a valuable asset in the future.
