JUST IN: Richard Dunne explains why Kasper Schmeichel needs to be’very careful’ at Celtic.

Kasper Schmeichel has had a fantastic start to his Celtic career in the Scottish Premiership thus far this season. Schmeichel has only conceded one goal in seven games, helping Celtic maintain their domestic unbeaten streak this season. However, Richard Dunne argues that when faced with higher-quality opponents, the Celtic goalie does not look the same.

Prior to Schmeichel’s appearance in Denmark’s defeat to Spain, Republic of Ireland legend Dunne stated that the Celtic goalkeeper is doing things at Parkhead that he never did at previous clubs.

‘Amazing’ Kasper Schmeichel looks ‘sluggish’ at Celtic

Dunne, referring back to Celtic’s Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund, believes Schmeichel is starting to slow down and has advised him that at 37, he needs to focus on different parts of his game. Dunne stated to Virgin Media Sport, “Kasper has been amazing.” He’s had a wonderful career, and he’s played for some really significant clubs. He has won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League. Now, he is playing for Celtic to replace Joe Hart.

“At 37, I believe you should proceed with extreme caution. You need to maintain your mobility and agility, and Kasper has always been reactive to saves when he’s been in goal. He’s really precise on his line. In a recent game against Dortmund, Kasper Schmeichel did not appear to be the same as in past years. He appeared little sluggish.

“But then, when you go more into it and analyze it, you realize that his stance is not always correct. He’s not reading the shot properly. “He is not reacting.”
