‘How many people can you take with you?’ – Siya Kolisi sensationally throws his support behind Women’s rugby and calls on the public to help the game grow

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi has thrown his support firmly behind the Women’s game and its ever-impressive growth.

The inspired leader, fresh off a Rugby Championship win, immediately began supporting the Women’s Springboks in the WXV 2, when he was spotted in full uniform backing his teammates.
Kolisi, on the other hand, did not confine his support to South Africa, but he paid a visit to the Welsh camp and distributed Wallaroos shirts before of their test against Scotland.

As one might expect, his exploits have garnered a lot of attention, particularly his call for males to express their support for the women’s game. Kolisi emphasized the importance of the game as a whole and how his South African mindset may aid.

“Where I come from, when someone struggles, you help,” he told The Good, The Scaz, and The Rugby podcast.

“The girls are playing the same sport as me and need assistance right now, so I go and help. That’s how I was raised.

“Without my community, I wouldn’t be here, and without my grandma and aunt, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

“So, if you have a platform, how many people can you bring with you? It’s not just about you.

WXV’s importance

The Springboks captain discussed the significance of the World Cup and the value of team time.
“WXV is so important – it creates more opportunities,” he informed us.

“For us as men, we have three games in June or July, then the Rugby Championship, and then three or four more on the end-of-year tour – it could be 13 games.”

“The more time we spend together, the better we get, and that is exactly what they [Springbok women] require.

“If we help the women’s game grow, it means rugby is growing, more are playing and exposed to rugby – we are all benefitting and eating out of that.”
