Former Bradford City, Barnsley FC and Harrogate Town winger joins non-league club ahead of huge FA Cup clash

Chester have recruited former Barnsley and Bradford City winger Dylan Mottley-Henry ahead of their FA Cup showdown with Scarborough Athletic.

Two of the National League North’s biggest clubs are ready to face off in the FA Cup, with a place in the first round up for grabs.
Chester have strengthened their squad ahead of the game by signing Mottley-Henry, an experienced winger from the EFL.

Mottley-Henry, a Bradford City academy product, was released by the Bantams in 2016 after failing to establish himself as a regular first-team player.
Barnsley signed the wideman when he left Bradford, but opportunities were limited at Oakwell. During his four seasons in South Yorkshire, he was loaned to Tranmere Rovers, Chesterfield, and Harrogate Town.
Bradford re-signed Mottley-Henry in 2020, and he played several first-team games under Stuart McCall. He was released during the initial Covid-19 shutdown, but returned to the club a few months later.

The Leeds-born winger left Valley Parade for the third time in 2021, following a spell with Larne in Northern Ireland, and moved into non-league football.

Chester manager Calum McIntyre said: “Dylan is a player we’ve admired for a long time, and I’m delighted to have added him to the squad ahead of a busy period of the season.” Dylan is one of the few high-quality wide players at this level.

“He will add a different dimension to our forward options with his pace and power at the top end of the pitch.”
