Following a disappointing performance in last season’s Championship, everyone at Norwich City will be hoping to see their team launch a promotion drive during the next 2023/24 season, in what is building up to be an attractive line-up in England’s second tier.

The Canaries have done well in the free market so far and will want to continue improving the team until the window closes in about five weeks.

The Championship club has not only welcomed talent to Carrow Road, but also players at diverse phases of their careers, with the seasoned combination of Shane Duffy and Ashley Barnes joining, as well as the more young Borja Sainz.

David Wagner has had a fruitful start to the summer transfer window, and he will be hoping that this translates into a successful start to the Championship season.

While we wait to see how the new season turns out for the Canaries, here is the latest news surrounding Norwich City Football Club.

3What is the most recent news on Norwich City?

Christian Fassnacht joined the club.

Norwich have completed the signing of 29-year-old winger Christian Fassnacht from BSC Young Boys on a two-year contract.

Fassnacht, a mainstay for the Swiss giants last season, scored 11 goals and assisted 10 times in 34 games across all competitions.

In an interview with the club’s media, the winger expressed his excitement about joining Norwich City. For me, challenging myself outside of Switzerland, at this club, is a dream come true.

“I know the head coach rather well. Naturally, this played a significant role in my choice to join the club. We chatted a lot, and he made me feel pretty good about making this move.

“I want to make the fans from Norwich happy by contributing goals and assists.”

2Rafael Camacho poised to turn down Norwich’s Portuguese move

According to Portuguese source Record, and as referenced by Sport Witness, a deal to Norwich for winger Rafael Camacho has been ruled out.

According to the article, the footballer intends to join Famalicão, a top-flight club in Portugal, and has already discussed a possible move.

The 23-year-old, who formerly played for Manchester City and Liverpool, spent last season on loan at Greek side Aris, where he scored three goals and assisted three others in 32 appearances across all competitions.

1David Wagner expresses ‘modest’ hope

In an interview with FourFourTwo, Norwich City manager David Wagner stated that discussing the team’s approach to the Premier League would be disrespectful.

“It makes sense to speak less about promotion and work more, to be more humble after last season while maintaining the greatest level of desire. We are one of eight to ten teams that will consider themselves candidates for promotion; now it is up to us.

“I wouldn’t say we have the best players, but it’s not about names on paper; it’s about what we can do. You must ensure that everyone understands the importance of hard effort and sacrifice.
