Wrexham’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have enormous plans for the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham have been playing at the Racecourse Ground for almost 100 years. In 100 years, the Racecourse Ground may undergo permanent changes.

The Racecourse’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, aim to restore the stadium stand by stand.

There are proposals to reconstruct the Kop Stand. However, McElhenney has already claimed that he hopes to see up to 55,000 spectators at the Racecourse after each stand has been refurbished.

It comes after the club’s recent run of success, which included back-to-back promotions and is currently vying for a third consecutive promotion.

Despite presently being in second position in League One, Phil Parkinson’s team defeated Wolves U21s in the EFL Trophy midweek.

Wrexham now has a temporary stand in place, and earlier this week it gained authority to expand it to more than 3,000.

Former Wrexham manager and now commentator Dean Saunders spoke with talkSPORT about the club’s future intentions to house 55,000 at the Racecourse Ground.

Saunders stated live on radio on Friday morning: “I mean, they’re acquiring followers from everywhere.

“The series they put on is obviously for the town, and I wouldn’t put it past them. $55,000 is a lot to ask.

“And, looking back, I recall believing that we’d earn 25,000 for making it to the Championship.

“We could receive 25,000. But to increase the stadium’s capacity to 55,000 is simply unbelievable.”
