Young striker Mo Faal completed a transfer deadline day switch from West Brom to Wrexham earlier this year, with the striker dropping a division in an attempt to get regular playing time under his belt.
Faal had been with the Baggies since 2019, rising through the ranks at The Hawthorns before making his first-team debut in 2021. Following loan spells in both the National League and the EFL, he left on a permanent basis this summer, with first-team minutes in short supply.
Given that he came through the ranks at West Brom, some Baggies fans will be keeping an eye on how he performs at the Racecourse Ground this season, and while he has struggled since his move to North Wales, there are signs that better times are on the way for the 21-year-old.
He has yet to make his league debut, but he made his second appearance for Wrexham in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, and it was a fitting reminder of his abilities.

Faal is yet to make his league debut for Wrexham, having played all of his games in the EFL Trophy, and was named alongside Paul Mullin for their recent game against Wolves U21s.
While a match against an EFL Trophy U21 side is always going to be low-key, it allows players to establish a claim for a spot in Phil Parkinson’s League One starting XI, and Faal seized the opportunity.
He scored his first goal for the Red Dragons as Wrexham cruised to a 3-0 victory, their first in the competition this season, and it may have put a smile on some West Brom fans’ faces.
We are all aware that West Brom and Wolves are arch rivals, therefore the fact that a former West Brom academy product scored against Wolves would definitely excite many of their fans.
Of course, it was Wolves’ U21 side rather than their first-team, but it won’t stop some Baggies fans from enjoying the scene, and they’ll believe it was the ideal time for Faal to score his first goal for Wrexham.
West Brom and Wolves don’t face each other very frequently because they’re in different leagues, but when they do, it’s always a heated match, as evidenced by last season’s FA Cup battle at The Hawthorns.
A West Brom academy product scoring against their Black Country rivals would have been well received, and they’ll be hoping that their former striker can push on and get into the starting lineup at the Racecourse now.

As previously said, Faal has struggled for minutes this season, therefore it was critical that he shine when given opportunities in the cup, and it appears that he did.
We all know that Wrexham are on an unprecedented path to win three consecutive promotions, and it was unavoidable that Faal would have to bide his time given some of the talent Parkinson has at his disposal, but performances like Tuesday night will undoubtedly mean the 21-year-old is on Parkinson’s radar moving forward.
The former West Brom player was an unused substitute in his first two League One games after coming, but he has since been completely removed from the matchday squad, so his first goal should be to gain a spot on the bench and maybe a couple of cameo appearances in the league.

Faal knew he needed to impress in the EFL Trophy to be included for Parkinson’s league ambitions, and his goal against Wolves U21s would have surely raised his profile at the club.
The goal against Wolves was vital for Faal, and it would have pleased West Brom fans, making it a win-win situation for the 21-year-old.
