Swindon Town receive positive news on the injury front regarding attacker

Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy has said they received ‘good news’ on the injury front regarding Kabongo Tshimanga.

Swindon Town rushed to get the striker on loan from Peterborough United during the last transfer window.
Tshimanga, 27, is now expected to miss some time, but his injury isn’t as serious as originally thought.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, manager Kennedy stated in the most recent update: “No [I don’t have a full assessment of Tshimanga], I have not spoken to Jackson [Bradley] on him today, Thursday is probably the most manic day of the week, and while I am very passionate about all of the players, the ones who are not training are very low on my priorities list.”

“It wasn’t something they were overly concerned about, we felt it was really good news and I haven’t been told anything different to that, so I would be stunned if it was anything worse than what we spoke about on Tuesday.”

Swindon Town injury boost

Swindon Town will want to return Tshimanga as soon and safely as possible.

They signed him this summer to improve their attacking lineup, and he has since scored one goal in eight appearances.
He joined Peterborough United in 2023, but he has since been loaned out to his former club Boreham Wood and Fleetwood Town.

The former England C international progressed through MK Dons’ academy before slipping to non-league.

Tshimanga had played for Boston United and Oxford City before making his Boreham Wood debut in 2019.

Prior to joining Chesterfield, he was a prolific Hertfordshire player, scoring 41 goals in 88 games.

The DR Congo-born player maintained his form with the Spirerites, scoring 33 goals in 53 appearances before joining Peterborough United.

What now?

Swindon Town have given Tshimanga a change of scenery and the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities at the County Ground.

He is currently in the treatment room as they prepare to face Cheltenham Town away this weekend.
