The CEO of Hull KR, Paul Lakin, asserts that the team is “very relaxed” about the possibility that NRL teams may pursue Mikey Lewis, the recent Man of Steel winner.

Lewis defeated competitors Matt Dufty and Marc Sneyd to win the Super League’s most coveted individual award for Hull KR for the first time since 1986 on Tuesday night at an awards ceremony in Leeds.

Lewis, who has established himself as one of Super League’s finest players, deserves all the praise. He is hoping to lead Rovers to victory in their first-ever Grand Final this coming weekend against Wigan Warriors.

Furthermore, it’s not surprising that connections to the NRL might start to surface given Lewis’ increased stock value. Martin Offiah only disclosed to Love Rugby League last week that he had “heard on the grapevine” that Australian clubs were considering Lewis.

However, Lewis only signed a lucrative contract last year that will keep him at Craven Park until 2028. Lakin, in an exclusive interview with Love Rugby League, emphasized that they have no worries about Lewis being traded anytime soon.

Lakin stated, “He’s signed with us for a long time.”

Due to the fact that he was a half-back in his playing career, he respects Willie’s coaching influence. I have a strong relationship with him.

“One thing about Mikey is that we can always have a conversation without feeling like we’re in a cloak and dagger. We’re just focused on Saturday, so I’m really at ease with the idea that he has enough respect for the club and me.

“He’ll depart for England after that, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll return at the beginning of the season.”

Lewis’ development over the past few seasons has pleased Lakin, who stated that the half-back’s maturity is likely the primary factor in his Tuesday night Man of Steel victory.

“He has matured,” he declared. After spending the last season away and participating in the England internationals, he returned much more matured.

He’s now consistently in charge of games. He is a major contributor to our team, the driving force behind this group, and he has contributed a great deal. Mikey is developing not only as a footballer but also as a nice young man, and I have plenty of time for him.

It’s wonderful to see him mature. He’s settled down, bought his first home. It was excellent for him at the time since he wasn’t ready when I mentioned a few years ago that we were going to send him out on loan to York.
