Celtic have Kieran Tierney return answer already as Arsenal exit path ’emerges’ while injury explained

ForgottenAccording to reports, Kieran Tierney has been granted permission to leave Arsenal, sparking speculation about a potential return to Celtic.

However, a La Liga club appears to have gotten ahead of interested parties, with the Hoops academy graduate possibly already responding to the Scottish Premiership champions’ interest in a transfer. The Scotland defender has been injured since Euro 2024 and spent last season at Real Sociedad. Mikel Arteta is alleged to have informed the left-back that his time at the Emirates is up.

The 27-year-old is claimed to have been granted permission to leave the Gunners on loan when the January window opens, giving Tierney the opportunity to put himself in the shop window when the summer arrives. In 2023, Brendan Rodgers declined to rule out a departure, but he did rule out a permanent contract.
When asked about a potential move before joining Sociedad, Celtic’s manager responded, “You can never say never in football.” Who knows what could happen? We wouldn’t be able to buy Kieran for £25-£30 million, based on the stats I’ve seen.”

Could a loan get off the ground? According to Spanish outlet Grada 3, Las Palmas have enquired about a temporary agreement to strengthen their Scottish contingent, which already includes Oli McBurnie and Scott McKenna. A transfer to Spain over the Hoops may suit Tierney as he improves his fitness. Earlier this year, he stated in an interview with The Athletic that he would not return to Celtic unless he felt “100 percent in my body.”

He stated at the time, “I still miss it, but I knew life would never be the same.” I was living a dream. Being a footballer is a dream, but playing for Celtic was the pinnacle. I left that to challenge myself in the Premier League and compete against the best to see how I would fare. If I go back, I want to feel the same way I felt there previously.

I’ll be a different player than I was since I’ve been away for so long, but I wouldn’t want to return if I wasn’t completely comfortable in my body. I understand the intensity and need to win, so if I return, it will be while I’m still feeling good.

In an interview with AFTV, Dr. Andre discussed Tierney’s hamstring injury, which has kept him out since June. He explained, “The hamstring is a two-jointed muscle. It works on both the hip and the knee, so the rehabilitation and rebuilding, as well as the information that muscle needs to regain, is much more difficult.”

So, if Tierney is still working on his fitness following a “complex” situation, would he consider returning to the Parkhead cauldron? At this point in his career, the boyhood fan may prefer a return to La Liga.
