‘Buzzing’ – Birmingham City man offers immediate reaction after latest contract development

Ethan Laird of Birmingham City, who was the most recent player to sign a new contract at St. Andrew’s, expressed his happiness about it.

Birmingham City was highly busy in the summer transfer window as they prepared for a new chapter in their history, and they have continued to be busy with contracts ever since.

Despite the influx of new players before the 2024–2025 season, the Blues are preparing for a bright future in which many of its current players may still play important roles.

Ethan Laird is one of them; in spite of his injury struggles, he is a player with great potential. After spending time on loans at QPR, Bournemouth, and Swansea City, he signed a permanent deal with Manchester United last summer.

It is now confirmed that he has signed a new Birmingham City contract, after initially inking a deal that would last until 2026.

Laird offered his reaction to the new deal, voicing his delight at earning a long-term deal with the Blues amid their big aims for the future. He said:

“I am buzzing! Everyone knows the direction where this club is going, and I am buzzing that the Board see me fit to be a part of it – and long may it continue.

Active Blues

Laird is just the latest player to be tied down to a new deal by Birmingham City.

It has been confirmed that versatile attacker Keshi Anderson and midfield standout Paik Seung-ho have signed new contracts at St. Andrew’s, assuring them of their futures and places in the big plans for the club.

It would not be a surprise if more are to follow either. The Blues are getting things in place for the long-term as they look to rise back to the Championship and potentially beyond in the years to come.

On the road back to fitness

Despite some of the issues Laird has had, Birmingham City’s decision to sign him to this new contract is a significant indication of their confidence in his ability and potential.Laird has been out of commission due to an ankle injury.

When he becomes available for selection once more, he will compete with Alfons Sampsted and Taylor Gardner-Hickman for a spot in Chris Davies’ starting lineup.

When he performs at his peak, it seems inevitable that he will be selected for the starting lineup. But it will be up to Laird to demonstrate that consistently with two guys who can take that slot in the lineup for themselves.
