Preston North End man and more: 3 stars out of contract in 2025 Stoke City should target in January

Preston North End man and more: 3 stars out of contract in 2025 Stoke City should target in January.

Last month, Stoke City hired Narcis Pelach, a former player for Norwich City and Huddersfield Town, as their new head coach.

In an unexpected move, Stoke City decided to sever connections with Steven Schumacher.

After their goalless draw at Swansea City on the road prior to the international, they are now ranked 17th in the Championship.

The Potters’ goal in the upcoming weeks and months is to move up the table. They will play their next game at home against Norwich City on October 19. Here are three players they should target who have contracts expiring in 2025 while they wait.…

John Swift – West Brom

In addition to adding quality, he would increase competition and depth for Stoke City’s attacking lineup going forward. His West Brom contract expires the next year, and as things stand, he will be unemployed.

Swift, 29, had played for Chelsea and Reading before joining the Baggies in 2022. Since joining the Midlands team, he has made 90 appearances and scored 16 goals, nine of which came in the previous season.

Jordan Storey – Preston North End

The centre-back would help tighten up the Potters’ defensive department if they were able to lure him to the Bet365 Stadium. He would be a shrewd pick-up this winter.

Since joining the Lilywhites as a young player from Exeter City, Storey has participated in slightly under 200 games, giving him experience in the second division. A few years back, he also spent a stint on loan with Sheffield Wednesday.

Luke Woolfenden – Ipswich Town

In recent years, he has been a terrific asset to Suffolk Town, helping them make the jump from League One to the Premier League. But in the top division, his playing time with the Tractor Boys has dried up.

Regarding Kieran McKenna’s long-term future, his team must make a significant decision. He would be a valuable addition to Stoke City, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go at some point soon.
