Mark Robins and Doug King in spotlight as questions asked about ailing Coventry City.

Get the most recent Coventry City news from CoventryLive as we assess the Sky Blues’ dismal start to the season and consider where

hope may be found with their trip to Preston.

One could have excused Coventry City supporters for believing that this was finally their season. The highlights of the Sky Blues’

previous two seasons were a play-off final and an FA Cup semi-final, both held at Wembley. Though the glitter was well-earned during

the club’s terrible phase, Mark Robins and company were still unable to achieve long-term success.

The Sky Blues appeared primed to contend for the Championship’s top spot following a rush of summer acquisitions to expand on the

moves made a year earlier, but things haven’t quite gone as planned.

It was understandable for Coventry City supporters to think that this was finally their year. Highlights from the Sky Blues’ previous

two seasons included two Wembley-hosted FA Cup semifinals and a play-off final. Even though Mark Robins and company had earned

their glitter during the club’s dark days, they were still unable to secure long-term success.

After making a flurry of summer additions to build on their moves from the previous season, the Sky Blues looked ready to challenge

for the Championship’s top spot, but things haven’t exactly gone as planned.

But last time out, City faced their old problems again as they lost 2-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, a team that is almost as poor off

as they are.

So what are the issues at Coventry that have left them so far off being the team supporters expected? We have commissioned a poll to

mark City being roughly a quarter of the way through their latest Championship campaign, and we would like to hear your views.

What are the main issues at Ryton, and what steps does the team—the Robins and owner Doug King—take to address them? Which of

City’s summer hires have shown promise and which have fallen short thus far? Given City’s dismal start, have your expectations

changed? If so, where do you now see them finishing?

Just a sample of the questions are provided here, so feel free to add your thoughts on the Sky Blues’ future direction. A week on

Saturday, October 19, at 12.30pm, is when Coventry will commence their 2024–25 Championship campaign at Preston. We will

compile your responses and provide you with the results at some point before then.
