Leeds United miss out on £30m-a-year boost after Newcastle United reveal – Report

Despite being one of Adidas’ top revenue-generating clubs, Leeds United are not yet considered among the world elite by the kit manufacturer.

Leeds’ commercial strength is far larger than their present Championship league place would suggest, with commercial revenue often more appropriate for a team vying for Europe than for promotion.

Leeds’ kit sales are vital evidence of their status as one of the Premier League’s top half clubs, which Adidas would undoubtedly be aware of.

While Leeds’ shirts have sold in record numbers this season, the Whites have yet to receive an upgrade in their contract with manufacturer Adidas.

According to Shields Gazette, Newcastle United has inked a £30 million-per-season deal with Adidas, elevating the club’s standing.

Newcastle’s current contract is similar to Leeds’ in terms of available stuff, with training gear and leisure items such as throwback homages running out almost instantly.

According to an update on Adidas’ website, Newcastle and other clubs are now classified as elite, alongside some of the world’s top teams.

The number of kits Leeds sells clearly indicates that they will be a significant client for whichever manufacturer wishes to hold us down.

Adidas will take note of this, and they may extend their contract with the team beyond the current season.

However, other brands may observe how well Leeds’ kits sell and consider outbidding Adidas, which is worth considering.
