After reaching a two-year agreement with the Super League team, Jake Connor completed his transfer to the Leeds Rhinos. He says he is motivated to silence those who are questioning the decision.

In order to go across West Yorkshire, Connor has been granted a release from the Huddersfield Giants. He is the most recent well-known player to sign up for what appears to be a major makeover of the Rhinos roster under Brad Arthur through 2025.

Not least of all, Barrie McDermott, a former player for the Rhinos, expressed his disapproval of the move to Love Rugby League earlier this month, saying he “wasn’t excited” about the potential of Connor signing given his on-field record.

However, Connor, who had the opportunity to play for Leeds earlier in his career, has stated that this will only serve to fuel his debunking of doubters when he dons a Rhinos jersey next season.

“I’m excited to start with the club and get to know the lads,” he exclaimed. It feels like a full circle because I was on the verge of joining the Rhinos a few years ago. I’m used to the fact that there will be individuals who question me, but during the preseason, I’ll be working hard to gain the respect of my teammates and the coaching staff; that’s what matters most.

“I have a strong desire to win in Rugby League, whether I’m leading Siddal or playing alongside my squad on the field. This is the largest step I have taken in my career, and I am eager to see what we can accomplish in the upcoming years.

Connor’s versatility made him an attractive transfer target, according to Rhinos coach Arthur, even if it’s anticipated that he’ll be used mostly as a center in 2025.

“I would like to welcome Jake to the club,” Arthur remarked. “His versatility will be a key addition to our squad.” Strength in depth in our backs and competitiveness for positions were two major areas that we recognized for improvement.
