Celtic could blow Rangers out of the water after ‘huge’ reveal – Stefan Borson

Celtic could blow Rangers out of the water after ‘huge’ reveal – Stefan Borson.

If Celtic can reliably guarantee a spot in the Champions League knockout stages, they may begin to outspend Rangers by a “huge” sum.

According to financial analyst Stefan Borson, who spoke with Football Insider exclusively, a spot in the knockout stages could be worth up to £100 million for the Scottish champions.

In their second group stage match, Celtic lost 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund after winning their first 5-1 against Slovan Bratislava.

RB Leipzig, Club Brugge, and Young Boys will be the home teams that the Glasgow giants must still travel to in order to compete against Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb, and Aston Villa.

However given the disparity in prize money offered by the Champions League and the Europa League, they are already expected to profit far more from their European exploits than Rangers

Celtic will increase financial gap to Rangers with European success

Borson maintained that if Celtic makes it to the competition’s knockout stages, they will keep widening the financial divide between the two Old Firm teams.

“Their focus will be on can we win our home games, become a regular in the Champions League’s second phase, start to get £100 million per year and, if we can, then we can start to spend more money on the wage bill,” he told Football Insider.

“If they are able to maintain their focus on the Champions League, Rangers will have a difficult time keeping up.”

Of course, that is the other side of the equation.

“Obviously, Rangers will have an issue if they are outspending Rangers significantly since they are in the Champions League.

“That will be a matter for Scottish football, not for Celtic.”
