BBC NEWS: Ian Evatt has been prosecuted by the FA following his red card against Shrewsbury.
Ian Evatt has been punished by the FA after his red card against Shrewsbury Town over the weekend.
Following a tense 2-2 tie at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, the Wanderers manager was sent out for an altercation with Shrews captain Morgan Feeney.
Evatt has been charged with wrongdoing, and he has until Thursday to reply. He’ll be in the dugout tonight against Aston Villa Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
According to an official announcement on the FA Spokesperson account, Ian Evatt was charged with misconduct after the EFL League One match between Bolton Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town on October 5.
“It is claimed that the manager’s behavior on the field of play following the final whistle was inappropriate and/or aggressive. Evatt has until Thursday, October 10 to respond.
Evatt was unable to talk to the media on Saturday owing to his red card, but he addressed the situation at his pre-match news conference on Monday afternoon.
“Obviously, I’m not going to say too much since I’m involved in a process with the FA, but I will say that I am dissatisfied. The management expressed disappointment with the outcome of the situation.
“There was no issue with the referee; we were discussing the time dilemma, and my actions were contextual.
“Their player grabbed me and said some hurtful things, and I reacted inappropriately.
“Whether it was emotion, frustration, passion, or whatever you call it, it probably went too far. But, as I already stated, there is context to how I reacted, which I will examine with the FA.
