£15m Nottingham Forest ace labelled a ‘revelation’ as he now only sits behind two club legends

Nottingham Forest have made a fine start to the Premier League campaign and have surpassed expectations in terms of a points total at this stage.

The Reds are two points and two league positions better than they were at this point last season, which signals development.

Forest have had a handful of standout performers thus far in the 2024/25 season, and fans have something to celebrate.

Ally McCoist praised Matz Sels for his efforts over the weekend, as the goalkeeper helped Forest earn a big draw away at Chelsea.

Morgan Gibbs-White has earned his first England call-up for his efforts this season, and the newcomers have mainly impressed.

Forest have persuaded Sam Matterface to reverse his early-season prediction that the team will be in trouble this season, and things are looking quite promising.

Gregor Robertson raves about Nottingham Forest star

This season, Forest can once again rely on Chris Wood to produce goals, and his total increased to four in seven Premier League games as of Sunday.

His superb goal-scoring form dates back to last season, and he is now closing in on a Premier League record with Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been in excellent form since joining the club, and he has certainly gained confidence from being the focal point of the Forest attack.

This week, McCoist expressed his admiration for Wood, as did Gregor Robertson, a former Reds player who now writes for The Times.

He stated on The Game Football Podcast: “Forest are savvy. They don’t have any dynamic offensive players behind Chris Wood. He now has 19 goals in the Premier League, trailing only Stan Collymore and Bryan Roy. He has been a revelation.

Wood closes on Premier League record with Forest

From a Forest standpoint, it has been a long time since someone has surpassed Bryan Roy at the top of the Premier League goals charts.

In actuality, Forest spent 23 years outside of the Premier League, thus no one has had a chance to surpass the Dutchman’s total for many years.

Wood is closing in, and with five goals remaining, it’s tough to imagine him failing to set the mark this season.

Wood has proven everyone wrong since his £15 million move from Newcastle, and perhaps Eddie Howe was correct.

The Newcastle manager stated he didn’t want to trade the player in January 2023, but conceded Wood wanted to play football.

Their loss benefits Forest, and the 32-year-old striker has worked hard to silence his fiercest detractors.
