Wolves are expected to make their decision on the future of Gary O’Neil soon after his team’s horrific start to the season.
This is according to Mick Brown, who previously served as a senior scout for Man United, Aston Villa, and West Ham and is still very well connected in the league, who exclusively told Football Insider that the former Bournemouth manager is battling for his position at Molineux.
Wolves are yet to win a Premier League game and have only one point from a draw against Nottingham Forest in August.
Since then, O’Neil’s side has lost five consecutive games, including a 3-2 loss to Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and is currently at the bottom of the league.
They have now conceded 13 goals in their previous four games, including five against Brentford last time out, and the board is considering their options.
However, there is a feeling inside the club that things must change soon or they may be compelled to fire O’Neil and hire a new manager.

Wolves are scheduled to face Manchester City at Molineux following the international break before traveling to Brighton, with the fixture list proving tough.
However, they will face Crystal Palace, Southampton, Everton, Ipswich, and Leicester in the next eight games, and will regard this as a great opportunity to pick up some points.
Brown, who has extensive experience working closely with managers, including as Sir Alex Ferguson’s number two, stated that no manager is immune to the strain of being terminated, and three more defeats may mean the end of O’Neil’s tenure at Wolves.
“Anybody who’s down that end of the table is already in trouble,” he told Football Insider.
“But it was just a few months ago that everyone was gushing what a great job he was doing and how brilliant a coach he was.
“I didn’t expect Wolves to be as horrible as they have been. I believed they were better than that.
“There will be clubs that are struggling and under pressure, no matter who the manager is, but if they win three games, they will be in the middle of the standings.
“In the Premier League, losing three games in a row, which is possible in a week, puts you under pressure.

“After losing five in a row, I’ve heard the pressure is building on O’Neil, and they’ll have to make a decision soon.
“I always say you can’t lose three in a row or you’ll be under real pressure, and that’s what Gary O’Neil is finding out now.”
