Wrexham’s faultless record on home soil this season has seen them hit a 49-year high, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney having plenty to cheer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Since introducing Hollywood co-owners to the helm in 2021, the Red Dragons have had plenty of reasons to celebrate. Back-to-back promotions have been celebrated, with the history books being rewritten on the way to League One.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Phil Parkinson’s squad is now soaring high in the third division, on a road that could eventually lead to the Premier League. There has been suggestion that European football could return to SToK Racecourse in the near future.
DID YOU KNOW?
Wrexham are currently focused on gaining domestic points on their home turf. They’ve been doing it on a regular basis, with a 4-1 thrashing of Northampton last time out – with Ryan Barnett starring on the flanks – preserving the only unblemished home record in League One while picking up maximum points in their own backyard in a fifth fixture at the start of a season for the first time in nearly half a century.
WHAT PARKIN SAID
The Red Dragons are second in the table, with assistant coach Steve Parkin predicting another promotion push: “We know we are in a division where the quality is higher, we know we are in a division that will be tough right to the end, but we have faith in our own ability. We realize we have a long way to go, but being 10 games in and sitting where we are is great for everyone at the football club.
“It is critical that we maintain our feet on the ground and continue to do what we are doing while working hard on the training field. We have a good bunch of players who encourage themselves, which is really essential, and we’ll see where it leads us. The important thing for us is that we never take our foot off the throttle when it comes to working with the players, and if that is enough to bring us where we want to go, that’s terrific. If not, it will take some good teams to beat us, particularly here.”
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
Wrexham will return to the Racecourse on Tuesday for an EFL Trophy encounter with Wolves’ U21 side, but a League One match against Lincoln, which was supposed to take place in North Wales next weekend, has been postponed due to international call-ups in the Imps squad.
