Springboks stars supercharge comprehensive Bulls win over Ulster at Loftus Versfeld

The returning Springboks showed their class for the Bulls on their return to the United Rugby Championship in the Pretoria side’s 47-21 win over Ulster at Loftus Versfeld.

Kurt-Lee Arends, David Kriel, Johan Grobbelaar, Canan Moodie, Cameron Hanekom, Boeta Chamberlain, and Elrigh Louw each scored a try for the hosts. Fly-half Chamberlain booted three conversions, Kriel added two, and replacement Keegan Johannes scored one.
Ulster scored three tries in Pretoria through Jacob Stockdale, Ben Carson, and Stewart Moor, with one conversion from Nathan Doak and two from James Humphreys.
Arendse made his imprint quickly, crossing in the fifth minute with some exquisite side steps, and Chamberlain converted. Ulster did not take it lying down, with Stockdale scoring a spectacular chip and chase try and Doak kicking a tricky conversion.

The Bulls rediscovered their groove, with Kriel crossing for a converted try off some spectacular passing interplay in the 13th minute.

The scoring quiet lasted only until the 33rd minute, when hooker Grobbelaar stormed over for his try. The second half followed likewise, with Moodie scoring in the first minute after the break, and Kriel converting.

Emerging number eight. Hanekom could not be kept silent as he scored 15 minutes into the second half. The Bulls were on the verge of going on a rampage when Chamberlain was rewarded for a great work with his own try, with Kriel converting the extras.

The visitors had gotten into the game by now, scoring two converted tries through Carson (68″) and Moore (72″) to demonstrate some grunt from the province. However, the Bulls would have the ultimate say through Louw, who looks even better after his experience with the Springboks.
