The New York Giants are on the road this week going coast to coast to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon. And yes … quarterback Daniel Jones has to get the offense into the end zone this week – but no, it was never going to be easy. And on Friday afternoon, the job just became more difficult.
New York’s offense has struggled all season, averaging just 15 points per game while the defense is giving up 21. That is not a good recipe for winning football. Aside from their blowout loss in Week 1, the Giants have been in three straight one-score games.
What has kept them in these close games is their defense. They are No. 12 in the league in both yards allowed and points allowed this season. If the offense can just find a way to get going, the Giants might be able to salvage their season.
The Seahawks rank in the top 10 in points per game and yards per game on offense. Defensively, they are No. 13 in points and No. 8 in yards.
Seattle’s defense is stifling, so the Giants are going to have to create splash plays and stay ahead of the chains. Defensively for New York, they cannot allow Geno Smith, Kenneth Walker and D.K. Metcalf get going. And offensively?
Rookie Tyrone Tracy gets his first big shot if Singletary can’t go. And Jalin Hyatt will likely step into the starting lineup for Nabers. The Giants (1-3) without Nabers and Singletary? The offense will look different. … and as we watch the game kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS? The offense might look worse.
