Club still celebrating 2023 transfer success over Southampton – Saints weren’t quick enough

Club still celebrating 2023 transfer success over Southampton – Saints weren’t quick enough.

Last summer, Southampton attempted to sign teenage Franculino Djú of FC Midtjylland, but the Danish team ultimately prevailed.

Ekstra Bladet, who report on how FC Midtjylland signed the 20-year-old last year ahead of teams like Southampton, claims that.

The article states that when the player was signed last summer, FC Midtjylland faced competition from Southampton and Benfica, who were keen to hold onto him.

The Saints were also considering the “great attacking talent,” but FC Midtjylland’s connections and executive assistant Ove Pedersen helped them win.

After seeing the player during a trip to Autumn 2022, he returned to FC Midtjylland with a note that the player may be a first-team replacement.

Subsequent investigation revealed that he could be signed rather quickly, and Pedersen took advantage of his connections to facilitate this.

He made it very evident to the player and his advisors that FC Midtjylland would be a good fit for Franculino because they can provide him with first team football and a quicker path to success than other teams.

He signed a contract to move in 2023, which turned out to be wise because Southampton had been quietly developing the talent.

After making several attempts to reach a deal with the player, they discovered that FC Midtjylland was “a big step ahead” of them.

They now regret that since in 51 games for FC Midtjylland, the player has contributed 26 goals and 11 assists.
