Brendan Rodgers’ comments on Anthony Ralston’s Celtic future could be about to come true

Near the end of the previous campaign, Brendan Rodgers spoke of Anthony Ralston’s significance at Celtic; the Scotland international is currently in his sixth year of playing for the senior team.

The Lennoxtown graduate has already made over a century appearances for the Bhoys, scoring eight goals and providing 16 assists, despite first appearing to be leaving the team.

The 25-year-old Celtics player Anthony Ralston was expected to contribute more in 2024–25 under Brendan Rodgers’ direction in May.

“He’ll play more for me next season,” he remarked. The fact that Ali (Johnston) was selected first was one feature of this season. Tony entered and engaged in some gaming. I had to buy Ali some games to catch up after he had been away from the game for a spell due to injury. That suggested Tony had not played extensively.

However, Tony possesses a few unique qualities. First of all, I am aware that he is constantly ready since, when he’s not playing games, he’s practicing. As a result, he trains daily and has a game-like mentality, standards, and mindset.

As the international break draws along, Rogers’ opinions about Ralston at Celtic might gain more weight.

Anthony Ralston’s likelihood of playing for the Celtics

The Canadian national team for their upcoming Nations League matches against Panama and Mexico does not include Celtic’s Alistair Johnston.

Following his selections, Jesse Marsch disclosed that Johnston is “rehabbing” a back problem, which will probably keep him from participating in Sunday’s match versus Ross County.

Ralston will probably make his eighth appearance of the season in that scenario. Having already participated in the Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal matchup against Falkirk, this would be his first start in the Scottish Premiership.

The question is, might this be a sign of things to come as Celtic tries to rotate their team in order to cope with a demanding calendar of games that will challenge them in every aspect?

Celtic’s upcoming set of games may favor Ralston Anthony

According to Rodgers, Celtic are prepared to make adjustments to offset the “cost” of their aggressive tactical structure and give Johnston more room to develop his abilities.

He went on, saying, “There’s a big cost to how we play, there’s a cost in energy, and that ability to make changes to sustain that is very important when that starts to drop a little bit.”

The difficulty of midweek games is evident in Celtic’s next six games in all competitions; these encounters will necessitate adaptations if the squad is to maintain the intensity of its impressive domestic season opening run.

Ralston will undoubtedly gain playing time during this period, and if the above mentioned factors are taken into account, Rodgers’ promise to be involved could take on even more significance.
