Alistair Johnston injury blow

Canada manager Jesse Marsch has left Celtic defender Alistair Johnston out of his latest roster.

While Johnston appeared to have recovered from a previous injury during the last international break in time to play in Celtic’s 6-0 victory over St Johnstone, he appears to have suffered a setback following the Hoops’ Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Anthony Ralston replaced the Canadian player in Germany when he was substituted off early.

Marsch stated that Johnston is nursing an injury, forcing him out of Canada’s upcoming game against Panama.

According to Marsch, both Alistair Johnston and midfielder Ismael Kone are currently recovering from injuries. “They have back and ankle injuries.”

This news comes as a shock to Celtic ahead of their away trip to Dingwall to face Ross County on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers will need to adapt his defensive plans since Johnston is likely to miss the encounter. Despite the setback, the Scottish champions should be well-prepared to face the task, as the squad has the depth to cover Johnston’s absence.

Anthony Ralston is ready to play against Ross County this Sunday.

He previously scored a last-minute victory for Dingwall while Celtic were down to 10 men under Ange Postecoglou.
