Sky Sports reporter now shares ‘significant’ update on Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, is a popular option for the vacant England post.

The FA has yet to announce Gareth Southgate’s successor, and Lee Carsley is presently the interim England manager. He won his first two Nations League games and is scheduled to take control of two more this month.

The former Everton midfielder appears to be the current favourite, but there are other choices.

Following Southgate’s departure, Eddie Howe was rumoured to take over as England manager. Several experts have suggested he leave Newcastle United to lead the Three Lions.

Jamie Carragher has often supported Howe’s appointment as England’s manager. Gary Neville suggests Howe should take the England job, implying that he has reached his full potential at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United fans strongly support Howe’s continued role on Tyneside.

Update on Eddie Howe and the England job

According to Sky Sports, Eddie Howe’s tenure at St James’ Park is likely to be extended.

Sky Sports writer Rob Dorsett has provided an update on England’s manager hunt, noting that the FA has yet to contact prospects such as Howe about replacing Southgate.

“A really significant bit of news,” he told me.

“It has been made clear to me that Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter, Eddie Howe, and Thomas Tuchel have received no contact from the FA regarding the vacant England men’s senior manager position.”

“That increases the likelihood that Lee Carlsey, who is in interim charge at the moment, may well get the job longer term.”

Dorsett went further: “It’s been made pretty clear to me that there’s been no approach from the FA to Newcastle to ask for permission to speak to him [Howe].”

Newcastle United fans need Lee Carsley to enjoy another strong international break

Howe has not been contacted, nor have Newcastle United. That is undoubtedly a positive, though they may still be contacted.

However, Newcastle fans hope that the situation continues unchanged.

The possibility of this happening may grow depending on what happens over the following few weeks.

Newcastle face Everton on Saturday, followed by a fortnight off before their next Premier League encounter on October 19th at home against Brighton.

That’s because Lee Carsley is about to embark on another international break, which might be significant for him.

He impressed in his first two matches as England manager, and now he has another opportunity to solidify his credentials for the permanent position.

England are preparing for two more Nations League games, against Greece and Finland. If Carsley wins two more games, Howe may have even less chance of receiving a call from the FA.
