Preston North End injury update on Will Keane ahead of Burnley trip following Watford squad omission

Preston North End injury update on Will Keane ahead of Burnley trip following Watford squad omission.

Will Keane was left out of the Preston North End starting lineup against Watford because he had a “deal leg,” according to manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Preston North End beat Deepdale 3-0, meaning they won without the need for an attacker. Ali McCann scored the other goal against the Hornets, while Milutin Osmajic scored two.

In the end, the 31-year-old Keane was left out, and he needs to get well soon so that they can play Burnley on the road this weekend.Heckingbottom was quoted in the Lancashire Evening Post as saying, “Yeah, dead leg (Keane).” There were a lot of factors to take into account as the team faced Watford. Milly from Osmajic is deserving of this chance. It’s uncertain what will happen, but it’s unlikely he’ll be reachable this weekend. With such a short turnaround, it made logical to let Milly play here and have Will, Emil (Riis), and Layton (Stewart) available. Even though it would have been the same choice regardless, it made reasonable to spare no one else from the firing line given the short notice and the likelihood that he would go missing. Fortunately, it was the right decision.

Preston North End injury latest

Preston will be hopeful that Keane is available at Turf Moor when they take on their rivals, Burnley.

He adds experience to their ranks, increases competition, and expands their offensive options.

Over the summer, the Lilywhites offered him a new contract.

Keane has been at Deepdale since 2023 and finished the previous season with 13 goals in 40 games.

He had stints at a number of teams before joining the Lancashire team, including Manchester United, Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Wigan Athletic.

He was a hit with the latter and found the net on 50 occasions in 128 outings for the Latics.

What now?

Before playing Burnley, Preston will check on him and make a choice over the course of the following few days.

His advantage against Watford is that he won’t be as worn out.

After gaining three points yesterday, Heckingbottom’s team is ranked 21st in the table, above the drop zone.
