Norwich City and Leeds United drew 1-1 at Carrow Road on Tuesday evening, with two of the league’s top performers in their positions, Willy Gnonto and Callum Doyle, facing off on the same side of the pitch.
Daniel Farke’s previous team took an early lead through Josh Sargent’s penalty kick after the USA international was clumsily fouled by Joe Rodon following some rapid movement in the box.
However, United did not lie down on Daniel Farke’s return to East Anglia, as a better second-half effort earned them a point, propelling them to fourth position in the rankings and passing Blackburn Rovers.
Largie Ramazani’s left-footed strike following Gnonto’s pass earned Leeds a point away from home and against Farke’s previous team.
In his five encounters against Norwich, the German has won three and drawn two. However, the match between Gnonto and Doyle drew attention both before and during the game.

Callum Doyle’s debut at Norwich City has been remarkable.
Doyle, 20, has quickly established himself as an important member of the Norwich side since signing on loan from Manchester City in early August.
He has previously spent time on loan in the Championship with Coventry City and Leicester City, as well as a successful stay in League One with Sunderland, as part of his ongoing development away from the Etihad Stadium.
The young left-footed defender has experience playing in high-pressure situations and possesses the mentality and talent to be a crucial player this season.
Doyle has played in all eight league games for the Canaries this season, with Johannes Hoff Thorup taking over at Carrow Road after David Wagner left earlier this year.
In addition to his defensive duties, the defender has scored one goal and assisted twice for Norwich, who seek to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
He has played as a left-back and a centre-back, but his primary job under Thorup looks to be in the former, where he can either move forward on the ball or tuck in to create a back three.
Doyle is composed for his age, but he should improve his ball-playing abilities even more with Thorup this season. A year of consistent playing time may be more useful than being a squad player for a top-tier club.
It’s a credit to his talent as a player that he’s already played well over 100 games at such a young age, despite only turning 21 and suffering from several injuries at Leicester City last season.
Doyle has performed really well in recent games. He received ratings of 7.3, 8.9, and 7.7 for his performances against Derby County, QPR, and Swansea City, respectively. Prior to facing Leeds, his overall average was 7.5, according to FotMob.

Doyle’s grade indicates the outstanding quality of his performances thus far. He is the highest-rated player in Norwich’s roster so far this season, although that was before the game against Leeds.
Gnonto, on the other hand, had a fantastic game at Carrow Road, completely outplaying their defenders.
Doyle received a 6.9 rating on Tuesday, while Gnonto received an 8.5 for his performance as the match’s MVP.
Gnonto is probably at his finest when free to wander and assault the box, and he has showed indications of inverting more this season, having previously been used on both sides.
On Tuesday, he played with such dynamism and freedom to express himself, and the Italian was frequently at the heart of Leeds’ most positive attacking moments.
His ability to play in both tight and open areas, as well as his capacity to win games, make him one of the club’s top players and most valuable assets.
