Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s been told about Murillo and Nottingham Forest

Murillo was always going to attract interest from a club like Chelsea at some stage, and Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on his situation at Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest’s recruitment has been great in the last year or two, with Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and other now-established talents at the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo played a role in it recently, but it was Steve Cooper who brought Murillo to the club last summer.

Since joining Forest, the Brazilian has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs.

However, having such a high-level talent has its drawbacks, as Chelsea is currently considering signing Murillo in the near future.

Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano has now issued an update on the rumours.

Murillo transfer rumours addressed by Fabrizio Romano

Murillo has already been identified as one of Europe’s most promising players.

He’s been an unstoppable force at the back at times, with his large size and great strength proving too much for opposing strikers.

Interestingly, speculations about Chelsea reached Fabrizio Romano, who felt compelled to provide an update on the issue.

Romano, speaking on behalf of Caught Offside, argued that Murillo would be costly for any club.

“So, I’ve read the speculations about Murillo and Chelsea, and what I can tell you is that Chelsea is interested in several centre-backs, but no conversations have yet taken place.

There are numerous links, however there is yet nothing concrete or advanced.

Murillo would also be prohibitively expensive for any team, given Nottingham Forest refused to allow him to leave when Juventus expressed interest in him last summer.

Is it worth selling Murillo?

Murillo joined Nottingham Forest for approximately £15 million last year.

The figure Nottingham Forest quoted in the summer was estimated to be £70 million, which would result in a huge profit for Evangelos Marinakis.

It is entirely up to the player and Forest, but we know Chelsea is a huge spender, so a fee like that provides an opportunity to bolster the entire group.

His value to the club cannot be overstated, but there is no doubt that he deserves to be at the top level.
