Champions League team is eager to let go of a £30 million striker who was connected to Chelsea.

Chelsea reportedly looked at a number of strikers during the summer, including Jhon Duran of Aston Villa and Jonathan David of Lille. Duran ended up staying at Villa, where he is thriving; the 20-year-old scored an excellent goal against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, helping Villa to beat the German club 1-0. David, on the other hand, also stayed put and steered his own side to victory in the Champions League last night, scoring a crucial penalty that saw off champions Real Madrid in a 1-0 victory.

Jonathan David will not sign new contract

David is Lille’s most important player; the 24-year-old has already scored eight goals in 12 games this season, compared to 26 in 47 last term. But, journalist Rahman Osman claims that Lille is desperate to sell David in the January transfer window because the Canada international is nearing the end of his contract and “won’t sign a new deal,” which means Lille wants to move on in the new year. Chelsea had a conversation with David’s agent in the summer, but it ended in nothing. At the time, according to GiveMeSport, Lille was willing to sell their forward for £30 million.
