Phillips’ 30 top-flight goals in the 1999/00 season made him the Premier League’s top scorer that year, and he lit up the Stadium of Light on practically every occasion.
In the end, the Black Cats sold Phillips to Southampton for £3 million.

Bamber responded, “It’s a tough question!” I believe the reason that question is difficult to answer is that we have never seen a prime Phillips being sold.
