“Trust” – Borja Sainz sends message to Norwich City supporters after Leeds United draw

“Trust” – Borja Sainz sends a message to Norwich City supporters after Leeds United draw.

Borja Sainz of Norwich City, who earned a respectable point against Leeds United at home on Tuesday, is adamant that there needs to be “trust” in the team’s efforts.

Under new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, the Canaries have had a mixed start to the season. Thorup had to deal with a number of players leaving during the summer transfer window.

The most recent point was earned against Leeds, a team that many had predicted would win the league this year. For the most part, Thorup’s team was more than equal to the visitors.

Sainz also acknowledged on Instagram that they were upset not to win, but he was already looking forward as Norwich looked to continue their winning streak.

“We wanted to win the three points at home, but now is the time to maintain our concentration, our hard work, and our faith in our abilities.”

Josh Sargent gave the Norfolk team an early lead from the penalty spot after Joe Rodon had hauled down the USA international after some deft movement in the box.

On his most recent return to Carrow Road, Daniel Farke was forced to settle for a draw as Largie Ramazani equalized for the Whites with a clean finish after being pushed through by Wilfried Gnonto around the hour mark.

Norwich City can take encouragement from Leeds United performance

This was another big test for Norwich, as they had been making strides forward in recent weeks, so it was interesting to see how they would cope against one of the better sides in the Championship – and they did well.

They were comfortable in possession for spells, and they always had a threat when going forward as Sainz and Sargent are two very good players for this level.

There will be an element of frustration that they couldn’t nick a winner, but a draw was probably a fair result.

Borja Sainz remains key for Norwich City

The Spaniard made the headlines over the weekend as he scored a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Derby County which highlighted his class, and Sainz was crucial once more.

His ability to carry the ball up the pitch with his dribbling and pace means he always offers an outlet, and he has now offered a consistent end product, scoring six goals in eight games this season, which matches his total from the previous campaign.

Thorup will be aware that Norwich has assembled a respectable team with Sainz and Sargent among his two best attacking players in the league, as well as young players with plenty of room to grow in the likes of Ante Crnac and Oscar Schwartau.

Now, the goal is to defeat Hull City at home this weekend in order to start the international break on a positive note. However, it will be a difficult test because the Tigers have won three straight games coming into this one.
