Nuno Tavares is off to a great start at Lazio, as indicated by his record-breaking statistics.

After loaning out to Olympique Marseille and Nottingham Forest, the 24-year-old became a forgotten figure at Arsenal. Last summer, the left-back agreed to join Lazio on loan with a €5 million buyout clause. Based on early indications, this might prove to be a fantastic bargain for the Italian capital side.

Despite missing the first few matches of the season due to injury, the Portuguese full-back quickly made up for it by assisting Taty Castellanos and Boulaye Dia in his debut against Milan. In Florence, Tavares scored the first goal with an amazing corner kick.

Nuno Tavares Creates Serie A History.

Last weekend, the former Benfica player helped Matteo Guendouzi open the scoring in a 3-2 victory against Torino, bringing his total to four assists in four outings for the club. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Tavares has the most assists among defenders in Europe’s Top Five League this season.

Furthermore, the Roman tabloid reports that the new Lazio acquisition is the only Serie A player to record four assists in his first four league outings since Opta began tracking the numbers in 2004.

Tavares has yet to make his senior debut for Portugal, having only represented the country’s numerous junior groups. This, however, might quickly change if his excellent run with the Biancocelesti continues.
