Stoke City to make checks on attacker ahead of Portsmouth clash as defender returns

Narcis Pelach, the manager of Stoke City, has stated that Million Manhoef will be “assessed” prior to their next Championship match.

Stoke City looks to go back to winning ways when they play Portsmouth at home on Tuesday night. This past weekend, they suffered a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium.

Early in the second half of the match against Boro, Manhoef, 22, left the game due to a leg injury. For the following twenty-four hours, he will need to be checked.

According to a report by StokeOnTrentLive, Pelach provided an update on his health, saying, “(Manhoef) was not feeling well and asked for the change.” He needs to be evaluated.

Ashley Phillips, a defender, is ready to rejoin the team after being sidelined for a period due to concussion protocols. The Tottenham Hotspur loanee, 19, will be vying for a spot in the starting lineup.

Manhoef would be a loss for Stoke City against Portsmouth if he wasn’t available because he provides the team with additional competition and wing depth.

He signed a contract with the Potters in February, and he will remain at the Bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2027.

He has contributed seven goals in his 24 appearances in all competitions for the Staffordshire team.

He was on the books at Vitesse for eight years before moving to England.

The former Holland youth international progressed through the Dutch team’s ranks and made 88 appearances for their main squad, scoring 15 goals.

As Stoke City gets ready to play Portsmouth, they’ll check up on him.

They took a chance when they fired Steven Schumacher earlier this month, and Pelach, who took his place, has already dropped his opening two games.

Since their promotion from League One, their next opponents have yet to record a victory this season. Their most recent encounter at Fratton Park ended in a 0-0 draw with Sheffield United.

Following their match against Pompey, the Potters will travel to Swansea City on Saturday.
