‘Proper sitter’ – BBC Sport pundit dumbfounded by what Rangers ace did v Hibs

BBC Sport pundit stunned by what Cyriel Dessers did in Rangers v Hibernian – ‘Proper sitter’

Steven Thompson couldn’t believe Cyriel Dessers didn’t score for Rangers in their 1-0 victory over Hibernian.

The Gers struggled to get going in front of a full-house at Ibrox on Sunday [29 September],https://sportupdates.co.uk/ with Tom Lawrence’s miraculous goal separating the two teams.

Dessers wasted a wonderful opportunity to double the lead late in the second half, leaving Thompson stunned live on BBC Sportscene [29 September, 1:49pm].

He responded, “Give Bursik a lot of credit, but you can’t pass up that opportunity. He’s less than one metre away. No one is on him, so he has a free header.

“I cannot believe he missed that. Head it down the line, the goalie has no chance. “Proper sitter.”

Dessers justifies snub with golden miss for Rangers

When the teamsheet was announced prior to kickoff, Rangers fans were understandably surprised to find Dessers’ name absent in the starting lineup.

Hamza Igamane was handed the nod to lead the attack against Hibernian, and while he did not score at Ibrox, Philippe Clement may wish the Moroccan had stayed on the pitch when Dessers passed up his opportunity.

The Gers struggled to create many opportunities from open play against a resolute Hibs defence. Without Lawrence’s brilliance for the all-deciding goal, the players would have tasted the wrath of Ibrox at the full-time whistle.

Clement’s tactics and player selection against Hibs were disastrous, with Vaclav Cerny only able to return after half-time.

Despite a less than ideal start to a re-opened Ibrox, the Gers maintained their strength and secured three points, which is all that matters.

Dessers, on the other hand, has repeatedly demonstrated that he cannot be trusted to be Rangers’ long-term option; is it too early to plan for the January transfer window?
