On deadline day, Hull City made a move to sign the left-back from Brighton & Hove Albion. He hasn’t yet appeared for the Championship team, though.

Furlong, 21, paid no money to join the Tigers. He has only made a few appearances off the bench for his new team thus far.

According to the official club website, Rosenior has given the following update on the new hire: “James is close.” It’s challenging for him to adjust to. Last season, he enjoyed an excellent loan stay at Motherwell.

After a month here, he’s getting used to a completely different style of play. He is steadily picking up on our desires.The appropriate time to play a young player will arrive; you just need to wait for it.

Hull new boy

At the MKM Stadium, Furlong will face fierce competition for a starting position. After Callum Elder left in the summer, Sporting Lisbon signed Ruben Vinagre on loan to take his place.

Recently, Lewie Coyle has also begun playing there. In the meanwhile, Brandon Fleming was cleared to depart temporarily after Shrewsbury Town made an approach during the most recent transfer window.

After playing for stints at Shamrock Rovers, Bray Wanderers, and St. Joseph’s Boys in his home Ireland, Furlong relocated to England in 2019. He later made one appearance for Brighton’s first squad but was a vital member of their development squad.

When Motherwell called in January, the Republic of Ireland youth international was cleared to go on loan out of the AMEX Stadium.

After that, he made 11 appearances for the Scottish Premiership team, and on September 1st, the Seagulls decided to permanently cash in on him when Hull called.
