BBC Sportsound pundit left in awe of Ange-eclipsing Celtic, says Rangers set for a 'healthy doing'

Celtic have received a lot of praise for the manner they’ve begun the season, and they took their ruthlessness to new heights on Saturday night, defeating St Johnstone 6-0.

Five different players contributed to the final score. It was a whole team effort, and the goals scored demonstrated their cohesion and collective confidence.

Every single one was visually appealing and the consequence of scorching in-play combinations that tore the home defenders apart nearly at will throughout the 90 minutes.

It is true that St Johnstone is now having troubles. They didn’t exactly put up a stiff challenge.

Celtic’s current success stems from their approach, rather than the quality of their opponents.

Celtic earn great accolades after defeating St Johnstone.

The BBC Sportsound panel, including non-Celtic supporters, were enthralled by the game.

For example, Hearts fan Allan Preston led the chorus, and his appreciation could not have been higher.

He stated, “This is the best football team I’ve seen in Scotland in years.” Many, many years. I can’t remember the last time I saw one as fluid and clear as that.

When asked if the current Celtic team is better than the one Ange Postecoglou constructed in Scotland, Preston responded, “Yeah, I honestly believe so. I believe that when Brendan first arrived, many of Ange’s players still wanted to play Ange’s style. That is not Brendan’s approach; they have two distinct ways.

“But I watched Celtic throughout the offseason, including games against Chelsea and Manchester City. Yes, they are friendly, but the way they moved the ball made me think ‘wow’ and wonder whether they could do it in Scotland. They’ve definitely done it.”

Celtic can crush any team in Scotland.

For Preston, the fact that Celtic were playing St Johnstone was practically inconsequential. He believes anyone, even Rangers, could have been on the receiving end of a 6-0 victory on Saturday.

He said, “St Johnstone, sure, they’re on a downer; they’re not playing well. They are a club in distress, but Celtic have ripped them apart. It could’ve been 10. Celtic will do that to almost every team.

“I include the Rangers in that. If Celtic play like they did tonight, Rangers could receive a big dose when they meet.”

It’s lofty praise, but not unfounded. The Bhoys have already defeated the Ibrox side 3-0 this season and continue to improve.

Much more is to come, and it’s very thrilling that the team will be tested at the top level against Dortmund on Tuesday night. Let’s see where Rodgers genuinely stands on that one.
