Okonkwo had a sickness bug heading into Saturday’s goalless draw with Orient at Brisbane Road but the 23-year-old declared himself fit, meaning he has started all eight league games this season for the high-flying Reds.
The O’s were quick out of the blocks but Okonkwo made a fantastic point blank save from Brandon Cooper‘s header to keep Wrexham on level terms in the first half.
Parkinson praised the stopper, who made his move to The Racecourse permanent in the summer after leaving Arsenal and has kept five clean sheets this term, for declaring himself available despite not feeling 100 per cent.
“Arthur had a bit of sickness the last couple of days, a few of the lads have had that,” said the Reds’ boss.
“But he wanted to play and that is what he is all about.
“The key moments, a striker scores or as a goalkeeper, it is making a big save when it is needed the most.”
