Gareth Ainsworth makes his bid to be Hearts’ next manager, telling Tynecastle chiefs what he will bring back to Gorgie.

Ainsworth has committed his name to the Tynecastle management position in an attempt to become the Jambos’ new manager.

Last night, Gareth Ainsworth stated that he is eager to assist Hearts recover their identity as Scotland’s third force, bringing back the soul and rock & roll to Gorgie.

After Steven Naismith’s dismissal last week, the 51-year-old Englishman has applied for the Tynecastle management position, which he considers one of the most appealing in British sport. Ainsworth took Wycombe Wanderers from League Two to the English Championship on a modest budget during an 11-year period until being fired as manager of Queens Park Rangers last year. He is now ready to return to the dugout after an eight-month absence.

In an interview with Record Sport, he stated that football requires a sense of belonging, and he believes Hearts is now struggling. The magnitude of the club and its history are major aspects in what draws people to Hearts.

“Looking at all of that and then having a peek of what has and can be accomplished with their qualification for Europe a few years ago, you see a club that is now screaming out for an identity, and I want to bring it back in droves. Looking back at the administration era and the progress made since then, they need to reclaim their identity as Scotland’s third largest club.

“For Hearts, winning the league means finishing third, and that’s what I want to do not once in a decade, but on a consistent basis. I want to bring people with me; it’s a club that players have exploited as a stepping stone for far too long. When I was in charge at Wycombe, I took Uche Ikpeazu from Hearts. However, the club often recruits players who see Hearts as a temporary stop before moving on.

“I don’t want that; I want to attract players to Hearts who are certain they will achieve great things; that is the message I want to send to the supporters, and I intend to back it up with results. Being happy to be a part of something where everyone at Hearts, including the club, players, and supporters, works together to achieve something is what draws me to Hearts.”
