Birmingham City Eye Jay Stansfield Type Swoop For Everton Target

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Birmingham City are interested in another Jay Stansfield-type move for a talent at a Championship team, although they may face competition from Everton.

Blues are on their way to taking League One by storm following a summer of significant expenditure and impressive performances on the pitch under manager Chris Davies.

The team is increasingly considering a return to the Championship and want to make a major statement when they do.

They spent over £10 million to recruit Stansfield from Fulham in the summer, and the club is now considering a similar method to pull off another transfer.

Sunderland prospect Chris Rigg is the man in Blues’ sights, and they are expected to employ the same technique that was effective in acquiring Stansfield.

Rigg might face a bid of around £10 million.

However, Birmingham may face difficulty in acquiring the midfielder because Everton is interested.
The Toffees have been tracking Rigg for two years.

Given the imminent purchase by The Friedkin Group, Everton could compete with Birmingham for Rigg.
