Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney now told why Wrexham will not win the League One title

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney now told why Wrexham will not win the League One title.

One Wrexham expert believes that Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds shouldn’t be lifting the League One championship in 2024–2025.

The pair from Hollywood has had enormous success after acquiring Wrexham in February 2021.

Phil Parkinson made sure the Red Dragons were promoted back into the football league in 2022–2023 after 15 years in the National League.

After only one season in League Two, Wrexham was promoted automatically to the third division this past season.

The Welsh team is now on pace to win League One and is looking to make it three promotions in a row.

This weekend, Wrexham plays Leyton Orient, and they enter the matchup atop the division, level on points with Birmingham City.

Nevertheless, Opta has projected Wrexham’s 2024–2025 final position, and it’s not looking good for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as their team is expected to place ninth.

The Americans have now been briefed by a Wrexham specialist as to why the team will not finish the current season as League One winners.

It was not anticipated that Wrexham would contend for promotion at the start of the current campaign.

However, they are in the running for promotion after a record of one win in seven games.

McElhenney was present when Birmingham City defeated Wrexham 3-1 the previous week. This season, they will also compete for first place.

The Athletic’s Wrexham reporter Richard Sutcliffe has now explained why the team won’t win League One, saying that Birmingham City will take first place, on the Rob. Ryan. Red podcast.

“I thought they’ll be in the top six,” he remarked. The top one is going away. Only Birmingham is visible to me.

“Stansfield up front, Alfie May behind, 20 odd goals both in the last two seasons. So they are going to be away and gone.

“But second place, it could be one of those where second place is up for grabs.”

Who will challenge Wrexham for second place in League One

Assuming Birmingham do go on to win League One, which is not a far-fetched assumption given they spent £20m on just one player over the summer, Wrexham still have a lot of competition for second place.

Bolton Wanderers barely missed out on promotion to the Championship in 2023–2024, however they have had a terrible start to the current campaign, finishing 19th in the standings as of the most recent round of games.

Rather, a host of fresh competitors are surfacing to challenge Wrexham for the runner-up spot.

Both Charlton Athletic and Barnsley are currently just three points behind Parkinson’s team and in third place in the division.

During the summer transfer window of 2024, Bailey Cadamarteri was signed by Lincoln City before Wrexham.

Even if the Sheffield Wednesday loanee is having difficulty at his new team, Lincoln’s team is doing brilliantly and, should they win their current game, will just be two points behind Wrexham.
