David Prutton predicts the score when Leeds United face Coventry at Elland Road

Leeds United return to Elland Road action against Coventry City this afternoon and David Prutton is predicting a very close game.

Leeds will be hoping to make it back-to-back Championship victories after last week’s 2-0 triumph at Cardiff City, which Prutton correctly predicted.
Coventry marks the beginning of a difficult run of fixtures in the coming weeks, with away trips to Norwich City and Sunderland following. Sheffield United plays the first game following the international break.

Despite Coventry’s terrible start to the season, Leeds cannot afford to underestimate their opponents. The Sky Blues were one of only four clubs to go undefeated against Daniel Farke’s side last season.

Prutton predicts Leeds vs Coventry score

Farke has already indicated that Leeds will be without Manor Solomon for the encounter, while Pascal Struijk’s involvement will be decided later.
In his pre-match press conference, Coventry manager Mark Robins heaped accolades on Leeds’ roster, but he is well aware that he can devise a winning strategy.

As previously stated, Coventry took four points from Leeds last season, when Farke had the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter at his disposal.

Leeds will now rely on the ingenuity of Wilfried Gnonto, Brenden Aaronson, and Largie Ramazani, all of whom have proven to be capable deputies for that combo.

Leeds are the clear favourites at Elland Road going into this game, and Prutton, appearing on the current episode of the ‘Essential EFL’ Podcast, has backed his old team to win.

He stated, “I’m going to Leeds to win 2-1.”

Predicted Leeds XI to face Coventry at Elland Road

Farke is not anticipated to make many changes, despite his extensive injury update on Thursday afternoon.

The biggest question mark is Struijk’s availability. With two away games coming up next week, it might be best to rest him here, given his injury history in 2024.

If that is the case, Ethan Ampadu will most likely be forced to slide into the back four, while Max Wober is also injured and may require surgery.

That could allow Ao Tanaka to make his entire Leeds debut. Ilia Gruev would subsequently take on the holding role, but the rest of the XI remained unchanged.
