Trevoh Chalobah in line for debut as Crystal Palace boosted by injury return

Eagles head to Everton in pursuit of first Premier League win this season

Trevoh Chalobah will be in Oliver Glasner‘s squad for the first time when Crystal Palace travel to Everton in search of their first Premier League victory.

The Chelsea loanee sustained an abdominal injury in his first training session after signing on deadline day but could make his Palace debut on Saturday afternoon, his manager has revealed.

Glasner’s side lost their first two top-flight contests of the new campaign but have since secured three straight draws, while the Toffees have picked up just a single point from last weekend’s trip to Leicester.

Glasner said: “We still know that we can and we have to improve in parts of the game, but what we always showed was a great character.

“We showed a great desire to get a point, to come back and not to lose a game. So at the moment, it looks like it’s tough to beat us, but it’s also tough for us to win the game.

“This is the next step, and therefore we have to work harder in the training. We did it this week, and then the win will come.”

Defender Chris Richards will be absent for the trip to Goodison Park after sustaining a hamstring injury during training.

The trip comes too soon for Matheus Franca, who enjoyed a full week of training after returning from a long spell out with a rib fracture and will be phased back in carefully.

This same fixture last season fell on a dramatic day for Palace, when Roy Hodgson – who had been hospitalised – announced he was stepping down hours before kick-off.

He added: “Of course it’s important to have these results, to be unbeaten. We wanted to have more playing style, but it’s a little bit more fight.

“(This week) we increased the training intensity, we increased what we demanded from the players and it gives us confidence that we also can fight to get the results.

“It’s not always just to fight, it’s the basics, and this we will need at Goodison Park.”
