Giants Coach Blames One Thing For Loss To Cowboys

The New York Giants were outscored by the Dallas Cowboys 89-17 in the two games they played last season. The matchup between the two NFC East rivals was much closer Thursday night.

The Cowboys escaped with a 20-15 win at MetLife Stadium to improve to 2-2 on the season. (The win for Dallas didn’t come without cost, as several key starters, including Micah Parsons, suffered injuries.)

Giants head coach Brian Daboll was asked after the game about how he felt in keeping the score within striking distance, given the previous two blowout losses to the Cowboys.

Per video provided by @SNYGiants, Daboll said the result stunk, but that he saw improvement from the team.

There was one area of the team that didn’t show progress. Daboll was frustrated with the rushing attack.

“I would say we got to do a better job in the run game,” Daboll said. “That starts with me. But we tried a variety of things and we couldn’t get much going. That’s why the passing game, we thought that was the right way to go with it but not fully go to passing every play, be able to stay on track a little bit.

“We went backward on a couple of these runs. They made some nice plays, did a nice job at the line of scrimmage. We went inside we went outside, quarterback run. It just wasn’t our night in the run game.”

The Giants finished the night with 26 yards on 24 carries. Quarterback Daniel Jones attempted 40 passes because of the ineffective rushing attack.
