As Championship news breaks, Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Celtic suffer an £8 million transfer blow.
Any remaining dreams that Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Celtic might capture failed summer transfer target Jake Clarke-Salter in a future window have been dealt a blow.
The 27-year-old QPR centre back made an impression at Loftus Road during the previous season, and it was reported that the Premier League and Scottish Premiership teams were considering a deal to capture him this summer. In spite of the London club’s outfield performance, Clarke-Salter gave the team strong, mature performances.

With the arrival of Harrison Ashby, Hevertton Santos, and Liam Morrison during the summer transfer window, QPR and Marti Cifuentes made major defensive additions. However, Clarke-Salter, the team that won the championship, remained a valuable player.
QPR defender is about to sign a new deal.
Transfer rumours would not have been shocking if they had resurfaced in January, but today has thrown a blow to Crystal Palace’s and Wolves’ remaining ambitions of landing the star. There are ‘advanced conversations’ between QPR and the centre-back regarding a new contract, according to Football Insider.
Because Clarke-Salter’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, the club may have felt pressure to make a move within the following 12 months to avoid losing Clarke-Salter as a free agent.
The defender played a brief cameo for The Blues against Aston Villa in 2016, and he does have Premier League experience before to joining QPR from Chelsea in 2022. Under Cifuentes, Clarke-Salter has only missed one Championship match thus far this season, totalling 56 appearances for QPR.
