Chang, 22, resumed to light training with the Blues earlier this week.

According to BirminghamLive, manager Davies stated that every morning, he is the first player to arrive. He’s in the gym and has worked exceptionally hard during his rehabilitation. He’s one of those players you simply want to see come back to full fitness and prosper because he has such a positive mentality.

“I haven’t seen much of him as a player yet since he hasn’t been training with us, but just getting him back into a warm-up is a major step for Alfie. Day by day, week by week, perhaps he’ll gain strength and recuperate correctly.”

Birmingham City boost

Getting Chang back would benefit both him and Birmingham City. He is not currently part of their 25-man roster and will not be allowed to play until January.

However, his immediate focus will be on getting back up to speed after being out of action for so long.

He has spent his entire career with the Blues, rising through their academy ranks.

The Worcestershire-born player was a regular for the Midlands club at various junior levels until signing a professional contract in 2021.

Chang has made 20 appearances for Birmingham City, but has not played since August last year.

What now?

Davies will be cautious with the player, gradually easing him back into the fold.

Meanwhile, the Blues will be eager to continue their strong start to the new season.

They are now ranked second in the standings, trailing only Wrexham, with a game in hand, and aim to return to the Championship soon.

Birmingham City won 2-0 away at Rotherham United and will face Peterborough United at home this weekend to continue their momentum.
