‘An ominous sign’ – Birmingham City vs Peterborough United prediction

Birmingham City and Peterborough United meet in League One this weekend in an early clash between two promotion hopefuls.

Birmingham City are favourites to win League One this season, and they will be hoping that their excellent start sets the tone for the remainder of the season.
Since drawing against Reading on the first day, the Blues have won six consecutive games in the third tier. They appear to be gathering momentum with each week, defeating Rotherham United 2-0 last time around.

Big money signing. Chris Davies’ team scored goals through Jay Stansfield and former Celtic midfielder Tomoki Iwata.
Peterborough United have been weakened by the departures of Ronnie Edwards, Ephron Mason-Clark, and Harrison Burrows, although they will seek to finish in the League One play-offs again this season.

11 points from seven games is a respectable start, placing them eighth. Posh previously drew 2-2 away to Leyton Orient, with goals from Kwame Poku and Mallik Mothersille.

The two have started this season in good form, but with a formation change, it appears that Darren Ferguson is changing things around to attempt to establish his preferred system with this new-look group.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the game.

James Ray

“Birmingham City are gaining momentum, which is a worrying sign for League One teams. They will be difficult to stop, and I do not believe Peterborough United will be able to slow their winning streak.

“Posh has some dangerous attacking players, and if they play well, they can cause difficulties for the hosts. Posh’s defence is a bit of a problem, and given St. Andrew’s attacking flair, it could be their undoing.

“I believe Posh will score and give the Blues a scare, but they will not have enough to win the game.

“I’ll back the hosts to win 2-1.”

Prediction: Birmingham City 2-1 Peterborough United

Harry Mail

“Birmingham City will be hard to stop right now and will be full of confidence going into this game.

“The Blues have a game in-hand on Wrexham above them and have been in decent form over recent times.”Their roster is just too excellent for League One, and they simply must be promoted this season.

“Peterborough United could be difficult opponents for the Midlands side, but they should be too strong in the end. “I can’t see past a home win.”

Prediction: Birmingham City 2-0 Peterborough United
