Watford following the damning Erling Haaland’s TikTok video demonstrates why the goal against Man City should have remained.

Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match saw Manchester City defeat Watford 2-1.

In an effort to support their argument that their goal against Manchester City in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup match should have stood, Watford has uploaded video on TikTok.

Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes goals gave the Premier League winners a 2-1 victory over Tom Cleverley’s team in the competition.

There was, however, a point of controversy as City led the first half at the Etihad Stadium by just one goal.

Kwadwo Baah, a forward for Watford, broke out of the starting lineup and used his strength to take down young Kaden Braithwaite. Braithwaite finished strong to defeat Stefan Ortega.

Referee David Webb, however, declared that Baah had illegally barged the defender, denying the Hornets a dramatic equalizer.

Feeling a touch let down by the ruling, Watford’s PR staff tried to create even more controversy by posting a video of a comparable ruling involving Erling Haaland that went in City’s favor. You can view the video here.

With the clever title, “Make that 116 charges,” alluding to the ongoing hearing into City’s alleged financial rule violations, the side-by-side clip has now received over two million views.

The decision infuriated Watford manager Cleverley, since his team was eliminated from the competition in the third round.

According to the 35-year-old, “that’s a perfectly good goal,” as stated to the Watford Observer.

When playing a young boy, Baah is a powerful and explosive player. Although it may appear too aggressive, they are actually shoulder to shoulder. Although it’s disheartening, you don’t expect to receive those ones following the ruckus over the weekend.

The former midfielder for Manchester United was also questioned about his thoughts if the scenario occurred at the other end of the pitch the decision would have been different.

“I have no comments on that one,” Clerveley said.

“I’ll just say that I believe a perfectly excellent goal has been turned down.

“I’m sad for Kwadwo [Baah], because this was a big stage on which he could have scored such a good goal.”

Tom Ince gave Watford a late goal, but it’s possible that Watford believed that Baah’s goal, which would have tied the score at the time, could have affected the result.

In the competition’s round of 16, City was drawn to play Tottenham away from home. The match is scheduled for October 29.
