Potential free agent replacement for Mosquera who is considered “world-class” by Wolves

Wolves, who are presently ranked dead last in the Premier League after just picking up one point from their few games played thus far, are still looking for their first victory of the year. Their one point came from a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, and they have a tough schedule ahead of them with Liverpool up next for Gary O’Neil’s team.

Wolves has allowed the joint-highest number of goals—14—while only managing five goals after five games. With an average of 14.2 shots allowed per game, O’Neil’s club is the eighth worst in the division. They will need to play better defense if they want to stay up. Regretfully, it is unlikely to improve in light of Yerson Mosquera’s setback.

Wolves have revealed Yerson Mosquera’s injury is a serious one, after being stretched off in the second half of their 3-1 loss to Aston Villa at the weekend. Phil Hayward, Wolves’ head of high performance confirmed damage to the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Mosquera is scheduled to have surgery in the next two weeks and will likely miss a significant amount of time due to his injury. Hayward has stated that it is doubtful that the 23-year-old will play again this season.
