Derby had identical success with Dajaune Brown, who scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for Gateshead last season and is currently a member of the first team squad.

Warne is keen for other players to have similar experiences, but he believes exposure is essential for clubs to understand what they are capable of. Derby now has the opportunity to compete in the National League Cup, after Reading’s withdrawal.

The Rams will join an under-21s squad as part of a Premier League attempt to assist develop talent, and Warne stated, “First and foremost, Dajaune and Ben have both done well at Gateshead because they’re both good players.”

“It’s a wonderful connection since they came for our guys, and they expected to play. I believe that is the best way to explain it. I avoid taking out loans.

“I believe the connection with Gateshead is solid, and I think Ben’s a really talented player who has previously played in the league, so I didn’t anticipate him to struggle with the quality since he’s a strong boy as well.

“But I’d like to loan out more players, but I don’t want it to be the case where we call a club and say, ‘You need to take this player,’ and they say, ‘Okay, we’ll take him.'” We want our guys to be noticed, and playing more games like the National League Cup will certainly help.”
